Before you start your basic how to apply eye makeup journey, remember
to apply a good eye
shadow primer. If you are unsure about
eye shapes, read helpful tips here.
These are the basics of eye shadow application. You can either keep it
light or build on it to make it more intense and dramatic. These
pictures are of me wearing a great all seasons makeup look.
BRONZE
BLUE EYE MAKEUP LOOK
Apply
Eye Shadow
Use 3 coordinated colours. For ex, 1 light, 1 medium darker, 1
lightest. Any colour spectrum is fine, ie, browns, greys, greens. Pick
a spectrum which compliments your eye colour.
Step 1 - Apply the medium eye shadow color in
several thin layers all over the eyelid, crease and brow bone. Use a large
eye shadow brush.
Step 2 - Apply the darker eye shadow color to the
crease of your lid. Blend well. Use a smaller eye shadow brush for more
precision.
Highlight
Your Eyes
Step 3 - To highlight eyes, apply the lightest
shade to your brow bone. Blend down towards the darker colour, getting
rid of any hard lines. Use the large eye shadow brush.
In these pictures, I created a glitter grey/black/brown summer look which really showed off my tan.

Outline
and Define Your Eyes
Step 4 - Outline the top and bottom of your lids
(lash line) with an eyeliner pencil (choose a color matching your eye
shadow colours. In this case dark brown. To soften the line, smudge the
line lightly from the inner corners to the outer corners with a smudge
brush. The above is also used as a base for the fashionable
smoky eye look.
Apply
Mascara
Step 5 - Apply a few coats of mascara to lashes.
For a more natural
look, use "brown" mascara.
That's it!
These are the basic steps of how to apply eye makeup. Whatever colours
you choose, you can use the above technique for a "light" makeup look
(by applying very little shadow) or for an "intense" look (by applying
more eye shadow).
