In the below makeup video, I talk about my mac collection. It's not extensive and I love it that way. As already mentioned, I would hate to be forced to buy only from one brand. Variety is important in makeup, I think.

If you are a beginnner and you wish to invest in MAC, choose wisely. Go for great "basics" first. I list what I consider to be a great MAC starter kit below, for a complete look with MAC products. But remember, the eyeshadows I mention are only my preference, choose the ones that you love the most.

A MAC starter kit

The first great basic product to purchase is your foundation. You'll wear it every day so this is a good investment. Just make sure you have the right color for your skin tone. 

A blotting powder (or translucent) is needed to set the foundation. This will make sure your foundation stays in place all day.

The third basic is some great eyeshadows. I suggest you pick 3 colors (2 neutral beige/browns/nude pink like Ricepaper or Wedge and 1 darker brown/black like Swiss Chocolate or Charcoal). These colors are so versatile, you'll wear them day and night, and they suit every skin type or hair color. MAC eyeshadows are expensive but they do last forever (well, not forever but you know what I mean)

Then we have eyeliner pencils to bring out your eyes. Go for the versatile ones first, like a black or dark brown. These colors suit every type of skin and they will become a treasured purchase.
Another great "basic" is a lipstick or lipgloss. Invest in a color which suits your skin tone and you'll wear it every day!

A great mascara will "open" your eyes. MAC has some great ones like Plush Lash or Mascara X, just stick to black though. It will compliment any eye makeup look. If you wear mascara every day, these will last you approximately 3 months.

And finally, a great blush to complete your look. MAC blushes are pricey so choose wisely. Invest in a color for your skintone. If you are warm, go for peachy, if you are cool, go for pinks. These will last you a very long time.


So there you have it. A great MAC makeup starter kit. With these products, you can do a variety of looks and always look groomed.
