We lived in a little mountain village in Northern Italy and I spent my days at home watching television. Many, many brain cells were lost during those years. When I look back now, I can't believe that was me. I think fear played a big part in my staying all those years. Fear of the almighty unknown. But I was fast approaching my thirties and the thought of spending more years in a loveless marriage finally convinced me to take action.I started a new life in my early 30s. Newly single, I moved to London and began a career in banking. I made use of my languages and for a while everything was exciting and new. I was happy to get up early, commute, and I even personalised my desk at work with photos and gadgets (very sad, I know....).  The novelty, however, wore off pretty quickly. I was becoming depressed and couldn't look at my future in a positive light. I was a shadow of my old happy self. Like so many others before me, I began noticing the soul-destructive patterns of an office life - doing the same things, saying the same words, going to the same places. Oh my God, was this my life? I felt trapped. shopping in Milan - Feb 08 - it's a hard life! I had gone from one prison to another, without ever really asking myself simple questions like: "what makes me happy?" or "what do I want my life to be?". Well, the answer to those questions was NOT being stuck in an office! I needed to find my happiness. What makes you happy?I started thinking about what I truly loved doing. What made me happy? What did I see myself doing in 20 years? The answer came to me immediately, it was so simple. Cosmetics and helping "normal" women (like me!) feel better about themselves! But I didn't want to be stuck at a makeup counter or in a cosmetics store. I wanted to set my own timetable and pace, ie, no early alarm clocks :-)I would create a website! Oh my God, this was the perfect solution for me. I would write about the many years of experience buying, wearing, trying makeup on myself, family and friends, who all turn to me for cosmetics advice. I decided to start makeup and beauty school (part-time) which I'm thoroughly enjoying. Not really for the qualification but to learn new skills which I can pass on to YOU :-) "Go confidently in the direction
